About Editorial Board
The Editorial Board of the Students’ Union of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong is one of the central bodies within the organisational structure of the Students’ Union, alongside the Council and the Executive Committee. It is responsible for monitoring the work of the University and campus organisations, following up on relevant decisions, and keeping a close watch on campus policies and issues. As the body within the Students’ Union entrusted with a media watchdog role, the Editorial Board also provides independent scrutiny of matters concerning the University community.
The Voice is the official publication of the Students’ Union. It is published by the Editorial Board, which holds final editorial decision-making authority. Its coverage includes university affairs, current affairs, feature stories, as well as resolutions and decisions arising from general polls, general meetings and meetings of the Council. Through the publication, the Editorial Board seeks to provide students and readers with valuable, diverse and meaningful content.
The Editorial Board, Executive Committee and Council together constitute the three principal bodies of the Students’ Union. The three operate independently of one another and serve as mutual checks and balances. Within this structure, the Editorial Board assumes the watchdog role of the “Fourth Estate”. It enjoys editorial independence and autonomy in news gathering and reporting, and its editorial stance is not subject to influence from the other bodies of the Students’ Union or from external parties.
